Sports podiatry is the treatment of foot, ankle, leg and knee injuries as well as congenital and acquired conditions by using a variety of methods, including insoles, footwear and exercises. Through a gait analysis, we will evaluate the way your foot strikes the ground and assess the chain of motion of the major joints in the leg from the ground up.
By analyzing the way that you walk and run, we can determine whether there are any bio-mechanical reasons that may be contributing to your problem.
Foot and lower limb problems develop with sport for a number of reasons. Examples of these include:
Bursitis
Arthritis
Bone spurs
Calf pain
Knee pain
Hip pain
Shin splints
Tenosynovitis
Tendonopathies
Accessory bones
Achilles heel pain
Sprains and strain injuries
Fractures and stress fractures
Heel pain (including plantar fasciitis)
Nerve problems (neuritis and neuromas)
Ligamentous and muscular strains or tears
Addressing these problems may be as simple as correcting faulty alignment with foot and ankle orthotics or advice on the best shoes for you and your sport. We offer a comprehensive range of sport-specific custom orthotics.
Further management may be required including strapping, therapeutic ultrasound or investigations such as x-rays and scans to determine the level of injury.
Through our thorough assessment techniques we can diagnose your problem accurately, develop a treatment plan and get you back on track to return to sport as soon as possible.
